Why Black Star Oasis?
How did we come up with the name Black Star Oasis for our desert getaway ? There are several people, places and things we are honoring with the name. Lets start with Marcus Garvey. Part Revolutionary, Part Visionary, Garvey's passenger and shipping company, Black Star Line was created to form a link between North American and Liberia. In many ways we hope that this home will encourage people of all race, creeds and colors to visit the desert and experience the incredible serenity and beauty of the area.
At the house, we also have chosen to honor the forgotten Black Pioneers of the West, did you know 1 in 3 Cowboys were people of color? So all over the house you will see photo's paying homage to the pioneers like Bill Pickett, Nat Love, and Stagecoach Mary. Hopefully the pictures will inspire you to learn more about these incredible individuals and their contributions to the Wild West.
Finally, we acknowledge the incredible show that mother nature puts on once the sun goes down. The stars in night sky are nothing short of spectacular and a reason sit and gaze upwards for hours in the evenings.
